International Days : Good deals ! 12 April 2021

Thanksgiving also known as "Thanksgiving Day" is a purely American holiday. It is celebrated every year on the fourth Thursday in November.

But what exactly are we celebrating? What is the concept?

This tradition dates back over 75 years now.

A Christian feast, today it has established itself as a feast that is both traditional, cultural and family. The objective being to organize a banquet whose purpose is to give Thanks to God, for the abundance of the harvests, but at the same time to celebrate all the graces received during the following year. It is also an opportunity to get together with family and friends around a pretty, well-stocked table. This event now symbolizes national unity, the majority of American citizens consider it the most important holiday on the calendar, before July 4 (Independence day) or December 25 (Christmas).

The day after this celebration, the concept "Black Friday" comes into place. Many Americans take the day off to take advantage of the long weekend. It especially marks the first purchases for the holiday season.

This "Black Friday" came to France for the first time in 2010. Today, the concept has taken a huge place in the lives of French people. It is now causing a real consumerist frenzy. According to the Paris Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) evokes "a phenomenon that has grown, reaching as much as six billion euros in turnover, including five in physical stores".

Unfortunately, this year the French will have to take their troubles patiently. Indeed, because black Friday is postponed by a week because of the health crisis.
